Silver Nol Card cost AED 25
* After the metro, if the location is still far than your walking capacity; you may take the bus from the metro and taxi (taxi flag down rate is AED 12 and goes up 1.50+ per kilometer)

Old Dubai

It’s pretty much near on every tourist spot in this area; it’s a small compact community in every corner. Most of your essentials are just down your building. If you’re looking for budgeted meals, this area has it all. It has very diverse cuisines from all corners of the world (Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Thai, Japanese, Indian, Pakistani, Afghani, Iranian, Arabic, European, American food and more) but restaurants in quantity are mostly Middle Eastern and Asian food.

The staple snack of the residence here is Shawarma and Chai (Tea with milk) which cost around AED 5-10 Dirhams and tea for as low as AED 1.

The most take out food is Grilled Chicken meal with bread, salad, and dips around AED 25-30 only.

Biryani for AED 10 – 20. And for dessert, you should try the Falooda an Indian dessert (Ice cream, mix fresh and dried fruits, vermicelli, rose syrup and more).

Konafa/ Kanafeh is a traditional Arabic dessert made mainly of thin pastry dough, cheese, vermicelli, milk, sugar, and the option of garnished nuts. The best Konafa I’ve tasted here in UAE is at  Feras Al Diyafah Sweet (Menu) and Just Kunafa (Menu) with several branches across UAE.Old Dubai – Top Destinations

Al Fahidi  Historical Neighborhood

Transit: Al Fahidi Metro Station

It’s a traditional, compact, and rich area of 31,000 square meters. Some of the highlighted structures are Dubai Heritage Village, Museums and Art shops.

Ahead of this location is the Meena Bazaar (Article), a bustling Indian market. Trades are mainly clothes, fabrics, gold jewelry, and restaurants. after exploring the Indian district, you can walk around 10 mins of distance to reach Dubai Old Souq Marine Transport (Map).

Dubai Old Souk

Reach Gold, Textile, Spice Souk in AED 1 only from Dubai Old Souq Marine Transport. Back in the earlier days, Arabs main water transport to reach to paint A to point B is a wooden boat they called “Abra” / Abara which means to cross. till this date, Abra became a famous attraction to tourist and short peaceful transit time to go home from work.

From Gold Souk, you’ll get to see gold jewelry like its a normal boutique displaying stuff by the glass. Aromatic spices you’ll love to bring home, Arabic souvenirs, fabrics and clothes such as Abaya and Kandora (Traditional Arabic clothes), retailers and wholesalers you wish to do trades with.

Personally, Dubai Old Souk is my favorite place among all, these are where you get authentic feels of the market, Real food from scratch, bargain noises, people from all walks of life. I used to go here always whenever I have to get my art-craft materials, souvenirs when I go to my home country, Gold Jewelries for investment, and when I need an escape from the superficial life in the new Dubai area.

This is my comfort zone.

(Updated pictures will be uploaded soon. I wanna place my own captured photo so you can see the authenticity of the places)
